How to Prep Your Scalp Before Any Protective Style Install
Most people spend hours choosing the right wig, the right braiding hair, or the right stylist. Very few spend time preparing their scalp before the install. That’s the gap where most scalp problems begin.
Scalp prep before installs is not optional. It’s the foundation of every protective style — and skipping it means you’re sealing buildup, imbalance, and irritation under your style from day one.
Why Scalp Prep Matters
When you install a protective style over an unprepared scalp, you’re trapping whatever is already there. Oils, sweat, product residue, dead skin cells, and mineral deposits from hard water all get sealed under your style.
